Business Insider highlights WayUp CEO Liz Wessel's two most common interview mistakes. We couldn't agree more!
- Always (always!) follow up after an interview, even if you're not interested. Thank everyone you interviewed with for their time and express your interest in the position. Try your best to refer back to the content of the interview in your thank you. Remember, everyone's busy...keep it friendly, professional, and get to the point!
- Ask questions! Be sure to have some questions prepared ahead of time and do your best to memorize them (jot them down on a piece of paper inside your folio if you think you'll be too nervous to remember). But the best candidates don't rely only on their prepared questions, they are serious, engaged and thoughtful listeners who will ask questions throughout the interview. Being engaged during the interview is key!
